Week of November 10-14

A big thank you to our very generous families.  In just one week, we have almost reached our goal of 100 cans.  We now have 91!  Perhaps the students who thought the goal of 100 was too low were right!

Don't forget that progress reports will go home on Monday, November 17.  If you would like to discuss the report with Ms. Romero and me, please use the instructions enclosed to book an appointment with us. Parent/Teacher Interviews will be conducted Thursday, November 20 from 4:30-7:30.

Friday, November 21 is a Professional Development Day for teachers.  No school for students.

Thank you for ensuring that your child is dressed warmly for our outdoor recesses.  We still go out twice daily and it gets very cold on the playground especially in the morning.  Also, please note that it might be a good idea to send an extra pair of mittens for the second break.  Many times (especially now that there is snow) mitts get wet first thing in the morning and they are not dried by the time we go out at 1:10.   Any extra mitts can be kept in your child's backpack.

And now on to the fun stuff . . .

We filled the water table with a variety of sponge like objects.  Students stacked them, stuck them, tossed them, and then later used them in their art.
We used pretend shoes with real laces to practice tying our shoes.  This friend is now an expert!

 We started writing in books!

We matched lower case to upper case letters!
We did A LOT of tracing, labeling, and cutting!

Our new set of geometric shapes were used as paths, to build castles, pictures, and more!
Reconstructing a story using the felt board and book.

Stacking cups!

 He captivates his audience!

We started talking about vowels.  We charted all the vowels in our names to see which is the "hardest working" vowel.  Has your child mentioned the vowel dance?  Ms. Romero and I get requests for it at least once a day!

Barbara Reid Art

We read a book illustrated by Barbara Reid and were amazed at what she creates with plasticine.  We experimented with it too,

Creating their version of Peter Pan

Outdoor Fun!

She is like a gazelle!

 Awesome Artwork!

We had some visitors one day!  These are life size cutouts donated to our school.

We have some new tools for our building centre!
