Week of January 12-15 (and a couple from today)

Hi Families!  We hope you enjoyed your weekend - with an extra day for students!!!  Here are some pictures from last week and even a couple from today.

More fun in the snow . . .

We opened a Tim Hortons Centre!

First we brainstormed what we knew about Tim Hortons

Then we checked out all the cool stuff that the Tim Hortons on Malden Road donated to us.  We talked about what it was and how it was all used and how to take care of it.

We made name tags.  In order to be one of the two workers at our store, students had to put their name tag on their shirts.

Working the cash register with coins, bills, and Tim cards.

 Great sign!!!!
We needed a sign to designate open and closed.  Workers will not take orders until they set up and turn the sign to open.

We also did a lot of exploring with magnets!

Here we are predicting and sorting objects into sets of magnetic and not magnetic.  After sorting them, we tested our predictions.

Using magnets to move pipe cleaners up and down the plastic jar.
 More Timmies!!!!

We experimented with snow, ice, and salt.  We predicted which cup would melt the fastest, observed, and talked about what we saw.  We noted that the ice with salt on it started melting immediately and was the quickest to melt.

We opened a nail salon.  It was nice and close to our Tim Hortons so friends enjoyed a pretend beverage and had their nails done with pretend polish.

A Tim Hortons picnic!

Ms. Romero was teaching friends about being polite - both as a customer and a worker.

 Great dinosaur heads!

He drew and commissioned the drawing of these robot pictures.  He stapled them together.  I thought he was creating a robot road but he created a long banner to hang in our hall.

Making donuts!!!
