Colasanti's!

The Animal Show

A slam dunking parrot

The parrot can stack cups too!

It can pull on a cup to get a treat!

Waiting to hold something . . .  they have no idea what though!

They were allowed to back out if they were scared!  These are some tough kiddos here!

Week of December 8-12

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas!

What a busy week!  Thanks to our parents who chaperoned our field trip to Colasanti's.  It was great to see so many of you at our Winter Walk Through as well.  We collected many cereal boxes this week and raised 33.00 for Hospice on Friday.  I continue to be amazed at the generosity of our families.  Thank you!

This week we used large styrofoam packing material and Christmas decor in our building centre.  Students created bridges, Santa's castle, roadways and more with the objects.

We experimented with water when we put two capsules containing foam shapes.  We wondered if the temperature of the water affected the way the capsule dissolved.  We put one in cold water and one in warm water and watched closely.  We discovered the warm water helps the plastic around the foam shape to disappear faster.

In our play dough centre, we used gingerbread dough, bells, and, buttons to create gingerbread men, families, snowmen, houses, and many other things.  The dough looks and smells like gingerbread but is made from the same materials as our usual play dough so is very salty.  We are happy to say no one tasted it!

We did lots of writing again this week.  We started a new room search where students search the room for picture cards and use the words on those cards to fill in the blanks on a room search sheet.  We also continued writing greeting cards with our holiday word card bin.

There is something about a big sheet of paper that our friends love.  They worked cooperatively on this one sheet and soon wanted more.  They also enjoyed working on their own sheets.  The carpet quickly was filled with paper and students!
