February 9-13

We made dough to create sculptures.

Making Valentine cards.

We put dish soap in the water and used rotary beaters
and a whisk to make bubbles.

Using the dough we made.  We decorated
them and then baked them.

Lots of heart art!

Exploring the music centre.

Our friends like playing games with Mrs. Szabados!

The new microphones were a huge hit in the music centre.

We also got a new book, I Can Draw People.  He used
the book for this picture of a cowboy and cacti.

Our new Frozen puzzle was a bit tricky but with teamwork,
we can do anything!

The microphones made it to the block centre too!

Adding words to match the pictures from a story!

We did some experimenting with ice cubes.  We measured to
see which one held more water and then observed to see which
melted faster.

We decorated our bags to hold all our Valentines.

Making Boston Bruin Valentines for a big fan!

We played pass the rose.  When the music stopped, the person
holding the rose answered a question (for example, "Name something red.")
and we started again.

We played a What's Missing game with Valentine items.
One friend put some objects in the box and when the other person
was closing their eyes, an item was removed and the other friend
had to figure out which item was gone.

Playing separately but still chatting.

Building and testing our version of BeyBlades.

On Friday, we had candle light snacks and lunch.

Hope you had a great Valentine's Day and Family Day!

Don't Forget . . .

This Wednesday, February 11, is our Kindergarten Open House for students entering Kindergarten next Fall.  If you know of anyone considering our school, please invite them in!

Our Valentine's Day celebration will be this Friday, February 13.  If you are sending in cards or treats, please consider the following:
  1. All treats will be sent home with students.   As we will be distributing the treats, please DO NOT put individual names on the treats as we simply put the treats into bags.  As this will be a very busy and exciting day, we regret that we do not have time to pass out personalized Valentines.
  2. All treats must be peanut free.
  3. We have 23 students in our class.
  4. Valentines are absolutely voluntary and not at all a must do!!!!

Thanks again to all who made our Literacy Day so much fun!  It truly was an amazing day!

February 2-6

On Tuesday, we used some of the snow that gave us our Monday Snow Day
to experiment with jelly beans.  We put some in water and some in snow.  We made
predictions and then watched as the jelly beans changed.

Great cutting!!!

Experimenting with a periscope and an old fashioned drill too.

Straws and Connectors were VERY popular this week.

We used measuring cups and blue water to learn the differences between 1, 1/2, 1/3, and 1/4 cups.
Students quickly noticed the pattern that 1/2 needs two to fill the 1. 1/3
needs three to fill the 1, and 1/4 needs 4 to fill it.

Did I mention Straws and Connectors were a huge hit?

Our ingredients and directions for our pancakes.

Thanks to Mrs. Tonkin for making pancakes with all who wanted to take part!

Making book marks at the art centre.

Thanks to the LaSalle Vipers for reading to us!

Her magical bag was filled with fun!  AND - she even wore her jammies!!!
