February 16-20

We had a great week despite being in for all but one recesses!

Using links to add.

Mixing colours in snow.  Thanks Ms. Romero for making
countless trips into the cold to get new snow!

Small items trapped in ice!  How long will it take
melt?  What colour will the water be when the blue
and red melt?  Can we use tools to get the items out quicker?

Fun with stencils!

Will soap hurry things along?

"It's like one of those trucks that carries cars."

Fresh snow - thanks again Ms. Romero!

He wants glasses like Grandpa!

Maybe these tools will help.

So much going on at this table - adding and "bey blades".

Ms. Romero teaching about self-portraits.

Using mirrors to draw the details on our faces.

Making cards for Chinese New Year.  We read a non-fiction book
that taught us about this holiday.  We also read, Goldy Luck and the
Three Pandas, a story about a girl celebrating the Chinese New Year
with her family and neighbours.  Very similar to the Goldilocks.

Listening to a story and following along with the pointer and big book.

Building a bridge.

A selfie, kindergarten style.

Other friends wanted to get in on the selfie action.

Oh funny friends!!!

We love having guests in our room!

They held the camera and took their own selfies.

Using Blokus blocks on the light table.

Students responded to the video we watched.  We brainstormed ways
we could record our feelings about it.  Students decided they could use;
words, yes or no, smiley face, frown face, red, yellow, or green.  Red means,
"stop - I don't want to watch it again", green means, "I would go and watch
it again" and yellow means, "I don't love it and I don't dislike it".

Building a skateboard and ramp.

Dancing!!!

February 9-13

We made dough to create sculptures.

Making Valentine cards.

We put dish soap in the water and used rotary beaters
and a whisk to make bubbles.

Using the dough we made.  We decorated
them and then baked them.

Lots of heart art!

Exploring the music centre.

Our friends like playing games with Mrs. Szabados!

The new microphones were a huge hit in the music centre.

We also got a new book, I Can Draw People.  He used
the book for this picture of a cowboy and cacti.

Our new Frozen puzzle was a bit tricky but with teamwork,
we can do anything!

The microphones made it to the block centre too!

Adding words to match the pictures from a story!

We did some experimenting with ice cubes.  We measured to
see which one held more water and then observed to see which
melted faster.

We decorated our bags to hold all our Valentines.

Making Boston Bruin Valentines for a big fan!

We played pass the rose.  When the music stopped, the person
holding the rose answered a question (for example, "Name something red.")
and we started again.

We played a What's Missing game with Valentine items.
One friend put some objects in the box and when the other person
was closing their eyes, an item was removed and the other friend
had to figure out which item was gone.

Playing separately but still chatting.

Building and testing our version of BeyBlades.

On Friday, we had candle light snacks and lunch.

Hope you had a great Valentine's Day and Family Day!

Don't Forget . . .

This Wednesday, February 11, is our Kindergarten Open House for students entering Kindergarten next Fall.  If you know of anyone considering our school, please invite them in!

Our Valentine's Day celebration will be this Friday, February 13.  If you are sending in cards or treats, please consider the following:
  1. All treats will be sent home with students.   As we will be distributing the treats, please DO NOT put individual names on the treats as we simply put the treats into bags.  As this will be a very busy and exciting day, we regret that we do not have time to pass out personalized Valentines.
  2. All treats must be peanut free.
  3. We have 23 students in our class.
  4. Valentines are absolutely voluntary and not at all a must do!!!!

Thanks again to all who made our Literacy Day so much fun!  It truly was an amazing day!
