Last week and today :)

We observed and discussed the differences between live and "fake" plants.  We learned that all living things need food, water, and air.

A few reminders

Picture Day This Thursday

We will be having our spring pictures taken on Thursday, April 23.  We do not have our class picture taken this time (just in the Fall).  Please return the form that allows you to select the pose and sibling pictures as soon as possible.

PA Day next Monday

Teachers will be in school on Monday, April 27 but NOT students.  Enjoy your long weekend!

Pizza Days Continue

Pizza days continue this Wednesday.  If possible, please send in a small note and $2 per slice.  It is also very helpful to indicate cheese or pepperoni.  Orders are also taken on Wednesday but it is helpful to our parent council to have the kindergarten orders in advance.

Ms. Detmar is here!!!

You might have noticed a new face in our blog posts.  Ms. Detmar is an ECE student observing, learning, and teaching in our room for the past two weeks.  She will be here for another two weeks and we are very happy to have her!!!

Week of April 13-17

What a beautiful week!!  We are so excited to be spending more time outdoors.  This week we visited our courtyard for the first time this year. We also spent a lot of time playing outside on Friday, utilizing the bike, balls, Frisbees, skipping rope, bubbles, and sidewalk chalk.

During our discussions about Earth Day, one of our friends
explained that we have to save the Earth so the polar bears do
not die in the arctic.  Here is our water table transformed into
an arctic dramatic play centre.

Scented, coloured rice with glass beads.  The glass bead have letters
on them.  Children can go on letter hunts and try to spell words.

Creating floral pictures at the art centre.

Waiting to go into the courtyard.

Pinecones were just one treasure to be found!

Using playdough dirt to plant flowers!

An Earth Day word search

Observing taking care of our plants.

Creating paper mache earths!

We took the glass beads out of the rice and put them on the light
table!  They looked A LOT different.  We talked about how you
can see the letters easier when there is light under them.

Beach ball play
